Svenska Retursystem to save energy with new Brüel Systems washing solution
Swedish reusable system operator Svenska Retursystem will install a new high-capacity washing and handling solution for pallets and crates from Brüel Systems A/S at a new site. The new solution will provide very high washing and handling capacity while also helping Svenska Retursystem achieve its sustainability targets through high energy efficiency.
Market-leading Swedish reusable system operator Svenska Retursystem has entered an agreement with Danish washing solution manufacturer Brüel Systems A/S for a new high-efficiency crate and pallet processing facility for a new Svenska Retursystem site outside the city of Jönköping in central Sweden.
Impressive capacity from fully automated solution
When completed, the new facility will be able to wash, dry, and stack up to 800 half pallets and 12,000 bale arm crates an hour, 24 hours a day. The fully automated solution handles all steps in the process:
Crates and pallets are de-stacked and washed efficiently in a process that also removes all labels from the crates. The cleaned assets are spin-dried before being stacked and wrapped in foil, ready for further use.
The built-in quality control features of the system detect metal residue and defective crates and pallets, removing them from the process flow. The system will provide very high uptime and productivity, and despite its high throughput it can be operated by only three employees.
Energy efficiency contributes to Svenska Retursystem’s targets
Sustainability is a top priority for Svenska Retursystem, and it was a key requirement that the new processing facility could help conserve resources such as water and power. The Brüel Systems solution is designed to deliver its impressive processing results with high energy efficiency.
For example, the spin dryers ensure that on average, only 3 g of moisture remain on each clean crate, but the dryers save 90% electricity compared to conventional blow dryers. And the solution recirculates process water, reusing washing water in the pre-rinse process and thereby drastically lowering the fresh water consumption of the facility.
